#FORD SYNC 3 UPDATE UPDATE#
If you take it to the dealership, they can update it, but you will pay for it. It can also supposedly update over the FordPass app, but again, I've never seen that actually work either.

The "automatically check for updates" just pertains to the updating over wifi, which I have never seen work before. There also used to be a glitch where when updating to 3.0xxx it would say that it was done, but it really wasn't and you had to keep the flash drive in, cut the car off, then turn it back on and it would magically keep installing and finish up. You'll probably have to do something to reset the power-off timer like put the window up and down every 25 minutes or so. You don't need to run the engine the whole time obviously, if you just turn the ignition to run or if you have proximity key with pushbutton start, just turn the car on with your foot off the brake so the engine doesn't start, but you're getting battery power. If you're going from 1.0 straight to 3.0xxx it will take more than 30 minutes, I'd wager 45-55 minutes. Should I just take it in to my Ford Dealer and have them do it? Does that cost money? Please help. I even tried to chat online with someone at and they're unavailable. I have searched online and found no help. I eventually caved and turned the car off because I honestly didn't want to waste gas.
#FORD SYNC 3 UPDATE INSTALL#
I did both of those things for my drive home, initiated the install again, drove home and left the car running for an additional 30 mins and it still didn't complete after an hour of being on. Disappointed I tried to find out why the update hadn't finished, the only troubleshooting I could find was to try turning off the "automatically check for updates" setting, and to switch the USB port in the car. I drove to work which took 30+mins and had to turn off my car. I plug the USB into my car and initiate the software update in the car and the software update has still not finished.Īs instructed I knew I'd need to leave the car on for 25-30 minutes. I believe I've followed everything to a T thus far. After some research, I came across these directions:

I have a 2016 Ford Escape Titanium and am interested in updating its software.
